After 18 years in corporate life, I’m trying to answer a question I’ve been asking for a long time:
Can someone build a sustainable career by becoming really good at what they do and genuinely trying to help people?
I don’t know yet. That’s why I’m calling this experiment The Long Practice.
My path here wasn’t tidy. I built a career, raised two kids, chased goals, and became exceptionally good at carrying a lot. Then came the loss of my dad, break ups, injuries, a totaled car, and a growing sense that the life I had worked so hard to build no longer fit.
The universe wasn’t exactly being subtle.
Yoga gave me somewhere to breathe. Yin gave me scheduled rest—not so I could do less with my life, but so I could stop living in constant overdrive.
In 2025 I had momentum growing teaching practice, moved to a new town, took LOA from my corporate career, and found myself beginning again.
Not from scratch, but from experience.
Maybe you’re beginning again, too. Maybe you’re questioning the version of success you’ve been pursuing, building something meaningful, or wondering whether work you care about can also support your life.
Over the next six months, I’ll share what I try, what works, what doesn’t, and what I learn about teaching, business, and building a life with more intention. My hope is that my experiments can make your own path a little clearer—and that we can help each other along the way.
I’ll be sharing the longer version of this journey on my new YouTube channel, Yinhart Yoga. I’d love to have you join me there.
And if you know a friend or loved one who might see themselves in this journey, please send this their way.
This is the beginning.
Let’s see what happens.
Sandy
